Maria Mendieta Garcia

Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) - Madrid

Maria is a fourth year student from Spain who’s always been passionate about biology, She is currently finishing her major in  Biomedicine with a Diploma in Entrepreneurship and Innovation project Management at Francisco de Vitoria University (UFV) in Madrid, where she’ll do her masters in Advanced Therapies in Biomedicine. She also has experience in the clinical research field having been part of the EPIC program at ICON plc where she learned how clinical trials are monitored from start to finish.

 

In addition, she has been part of the UFV debating society where her team was a semifinalist of the internal league. She has also been a volunteer accompanying swimmers with mental disabilities in their trainings and is currently volunteering as a Spanish interpreter at CARES therapy Clinic at MUSC where she is also doing an internship at the Jimenez Sainz lab. In Dr. Sainz' lab, she’ll be able to learn and do research in BRCA2 variants, their pathogenicity and how they affect HDR amongst other things.

 

In my free time, she enjoys cooking, going out and running.
