Kaelyn Kear

Kaelyn is a lab assistant/volunteer in the Jimenez Sainz Lab. She is from both Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Kear is currently a senior at the College of Charleston, completing her bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in dance.
On campus, Kaelyn has been actively involved in various organizations, including Women in STEM, the CofC Dance Alliance, the American College Dance Association, and the FitCatZ Aquatic & Motor Therapy Program. Outside of academics, she teaches ballet to young children and is also a competitive ballroom dancer.
Her biological interests lie in microbiology and genetics, and she hopes to make meaningful contributions to research and discovery at the Jimenez Sainz Lab. Additionally, she aims to gain valuable professional lab experience to further her scientific career and expand her research interests.
